A little getaway

Mr. 12 devonshire and I had a little mini-vacation during our family visit in Indiana.  My parents sent us off to a nearby resort for a night - our first night sans kiddos in over 3 years.  The girls had fun at "camp grandma (and grandpa)" and we had a great time.

We stayed at the West Baden Springs Hotel, which is a National Historic Landmark.  The architecture is spectacular and the grounds are really beautiful.

This is the first glimpse you catch of the hotel as you drive up.  Photo from the hotel website.

In addition to enjoying our time together in a lovely setting, highlights of our mini-trip included my first casino experience (the neighboring hotel - French Lick - is home to a large Vegas-style casino, where I was carded (thank you, Mr. Security Guard)), a delicious steak dinner, sleeping past 9 am, breakfast in bed and a little antiquing on the way home.  Details on that tomorrow!

  1. Sometimes a little R&R is just what a girl needs. Beautiful hotel!

  2. Wow! Sounds great, Alicia! Hotel looks beautiful.
Glad you were able to get away.

  3. Alicia, that's fantastic! Welcome home and let's get together soon.

  4. Alicia, so glad you got a break sans kids. I enjoy that at least once per year. A trip either by myself or with a girlfriend to NYC does it for me.
